ABI began in the late 1970's as a supplier of sailboat hardware to the U.S. market. Popularity of it's often difficult-to-find items enabled the company to grow its product line and develop new categories and markets outside of the world of sailing. Not long after it's humble beginnings in the San Francisco North Bay Area, ABI began to also manufacture plumbing, deck and cabinet hardware items for powerboats in addition to the sailboat market already served. This line expansion grew ABI's customer base to include dealers, distributors and boat builders from nearly every continent. Due to the demands of those who enjoyed ABI's highly prized products, the company soon introduced it's own line of interior lighting. This eventually led to the acquisition of light bulb supplier, Precision Lighting. With the inclusion of this product line to it's already impressive product array, ABI / Precision Lighting is now proud to offer it's customers over 1000 SKUs of hardware and lighting and nearly 500 SKUs of replacement bulbs. A former employee, Madison Lott, bought the company in 2003. MJL Industries, Inc. continues to operate ABI / Precision Lighting in the Sonoma County, California town of Santa Rosa. |
